LaDelle & Jubilant

Ladelle and Jubilant is a novel by Cathy McIver. The story follows the lives of Ladelle, an elderly black woman, and Jubilant, a young black boy, as they form an unlikely friendship. Ladelle is a retired music teacher who lives alone in a small house. She is a kind and gentle woman, but she is also very lonely. Jubilant is a young boy who lives in the neighborhood. He is a bright and cheerful child, but he is also very poor. Jubilant's mother died when he was young, and his father is an alcoholic. Jubilant often has to fend for himself, and he is always looking for ways to make money.

One day, Jubilant meets Ladelle while she is sitting on her porch. Jubilant asks Ladelle if she can give him some money, and Ladelle agrees. The two of them start talking, and they quickly become friends. Ladelle starts giving Jubilant piano lessons, and Jubilant starts helping Ladelle with her yard work. The two of them spend more and more time together, and they both start to feel like they have found a new family.

One day, Jubilant's father gets into a fight with another man, and he is arrested. Jubilant is taken to live with his grandmother, but he doesn't like it there. He runs away and goes to Ladelle's house. Ladelle takes Jubilant in, and she tells him that he can stay with her as long as he needs to. Jubilant is happy to be living with Ladelle, and he starts to feel like he finally has a home.

Ladelle and Jubilant continue to be friends for many years. They both go through a lot of changes in their lives, but they always have each other to lean on. Ladelle teaches Jubilant how to play the piano, and Jubilant helps Ladelle to feel loved and needed. The two of them are a perfect match for each other, and they are both better off because of their friendship.
